Instagram is an image and video sharing platform with an interface that is primarily designed for use on mobile devices. Instagram Web has been around for a long time, but it still isn’t quite as user-friendly as the mobile app, and it lacks some of the functions available on the mobile version.
Instagram recently released a desktop version of the app, but unfortunately it is currently only available for Windows/PC, so Mac users will have to keep on waiting. One thing to note is that the Windows version of the app currently available for download is still missing a lot of the functions of the mobile app. It’s best to think of this version as a soft launch with a basic build that will probably be continually fleshed out as it gets updated.
Instagram PC is the Windows version of Instagram that was officially launched by Instagram. Windows users can visit the Microsoft Store and search for Instagram to find and download the official app.

The Instagram PC version basically has all of the same functions as Instagram Web.

Although Instagram is a social media platform and not an instant messaging app, its direct message function which allows users to send private messages has become very popular because of Instagram’s high interactivity.
If you are a business or enterprise, or if you are operating a for-profit Instagram or IG Shop, it’s very important to be able to manage Instagram messages. When operating an IG Shop, it’s likely that lots of users will directly contact you to ask about product information. When using Instagram for business purposes, merchants who simultaneously handle Instagram messages on their phones, Instagram Web, and Instagram PC will be unable to see whether their colleagues are already replying to the same private chat, or you may need to read back over the chat history to make sure you aren’t replying to the wrong message.
That’s why it’s a good idea to have a systematic way of handling IG direct messages, so customers aren’t kept waiting for too long and start to lose interest in your shop.
imBee offers a one-stop platform for helping business users manage their Instagram messages more systematically. In addition to Instagram, we can also connect to instant messaging apps like the WhatsApp Business API, Messenger, WeChat, and LINE to enable imBee users to manage messages from multiple channels. imBee’s automatic message management features like chatbots, conversation channeling, customer tagging, quick replies, and customized customer message columns help businesses to simplify the process of managing customer relations and increase the efficiency of customer service and sales personnel.
Instagram PC also supports image and text publishing, but, as with Instagram Web, users are unable to post Instagram Stories.
If you are a blogger, foodie, or creator of similar content, you probably spend a lot of time editing images or videos. To maximize image quality, many content creators will use media editing software on their computers to create images or videos. After you have finished editing an image on your computer, you can use Instagram PC to directly upload it and quickly and easily complete tasks like editing and uploading.
The difference between the PC and Web versions of Instagram is that the web version is not limited to a particular computer operating system. Users can login and use Instagram from any browser. Whether you’re a Windows or a MacOS user, you can log in to Instagram Web and enjoy all the same functions of the computer version by simply navigating to the website and entering your username and password.
There are lots of Instagram replacement apps for MacOS, but as we mentioned above, the only officially released PC version of Instagram is currently just available for Windows. None of the Instagram apps for MacOS are official versions of Instagram, so users will need to do a bit of research into what’s available, weigh the pros and cons of each software, and decide whether it’s right for you.
It’s not uncommon to see Instagram Shops post stories complaining that their inbox has over 99 new messages, and begging customers to wait patiently for replies. While high quality products are an important factor in drawing a customer’s interest, it is crucial to not overlook the customer service element. Because only by providing customers with high quality, prompt replies can businesses build lasting and positive relationships with customers, and increase the long-term effectiveness of marketing.
How should businesses manage large volumes of customer messages? The imBee customer messaging platform is the best solution. Using our platform’s automated message management functions like conversation channeling, customer tagging, and chatbots, the system can automatically reply to certain commonly asked questions. Conversation channeling and user tagging assigns conversations to the most suited staff member, reducing the time spent waiting for replies from other departments.
